Dear Nebraska Women of Today members,

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your treasurer for the State Board again this year. I am

excited to continue to grow in this role. I will continue to keep current and accurate financial

records for the State chapter and provide accurate and timely financial reports to the board.

My “logo” is a penny and theme is “Making Cents”, play on words conveying the intent to make

our financial operations at NWT transparent and understandable.

I hope each chapter has prepared a budget for the upcoming year 2026-2027. Your local

chapter must approve the budget prior to implementation. Align your Chapter’s budget with

your Plan of Action identifying expected expenditures to eliminate the need for a motion to fund

upcoming projects. A line item could also be included in your budget if your chapter anticipates

adding new projects during the year. I hope Chapter treasurers will submit their budgets to me

as part of their Fast Start.

A rounding applause goes out to our local chapters for their outstanding contribution through

the ongoing collection of ”Pennies from Heaven”. Nebraska Women of Today collected an

amazing $287.00 this year. Chapters donating were Beatrice, Fremont Area, Fremont Youth,

Heartland, Lincoln and Nebraska City. This amount will be matched by the NWT Convention fund

so our state organization will donate $287 to the Foster Care Closet of Nebraska and $287.00 to

Nebraska Children and Families Foundation-Camp Catch-up. Way to go Nebraska Women of

Today!!

Fundraising for State Chapter operations is an important role for our State Board. We had several

successful campaigns at our Annual Convention. First thank you to all our members who

registered and attended the convention. We also very much appreciate our National members

that attended to support our State. Second thank you to Mary Hansen, our USWT President, and

USWT for their participation in the “Pie the Prez” which raised $50.00 for NWT coffers. And the third

campaign was our Silent Auction. Our sincere gratitude is extended to the Chapters and their

members for putting together some GREAT baskets to auction off this year. Lincoln donated the

“ Coffee and Tea Time” basket, which garnered $80.00. Heartland donated “Game Night”

basket, which was won with a $70 bid. Fremont Area “Kitchen” basket earned $55.00 for NWT.

Kearney basket “ Brewed Bee Honey” raised $40.00 for NWT and Shellie’s basket made $35.00.

Thanks to all the members who participated in the bidding war in their effort to come away with

the prize! Also thank you to our National Chairman of the Board, Jane Hanson, who generously

donated $20 to the cause, rounding out the total raised by the Silent Auction event to $300.00.

Our State Store also did well and generated income of $204.96 plus an additional $54 for the

new canvas bags purchased prior to convention for a total of $258.96 (not including tax). Thank

you to all our members who patronized the store.

Finally we held “Buckets of Sunshine” annual service campaign at Annual Convention. Chapters

and members donated feminine products and diapers as well as funds and gift cards this year.

The recipient this year was Women Center for Advancement, The WCA assists anyone in the

Omaha area who is experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking or human

trafficking. Their free, high-quality services address clients’ immediate safety needs and help

them to grow into independence over time. Nebraska’s generous members donated a total

value of $240.00 this year.

And we need to recognize Cindy Urlacher for her outstanding effort as Convention Chair this

year in making the event a success.

Heads Up!! Local chapter treasurers, please don’t forget to submit the Chapter Affiliation fee of

$15.00 to me by July 1, 2026.
